Exercises

Exercise 1: Quantifiable Information

For exercise 1, we were required to quantify (count) our chosen items such as lego, buttons, coins and etc and arrange the objects into a presentable layout or chart.

I rummaged through objects in my house and found a box of paper pins and clips for this exercise.

I tried several arrangements and wrote down the quantity of each item.

Exercise 2: L.A.T.C.H

In this exercise, we were required to organize a group of information into a visual poster that combined and utilizes the LATCH principles (Location / Alphabet / Time / Category / Hierarchy).

I chose the topic of Pokemon (https://pokemondb.net/pokedex/) and utilized the principles of LATCH to design my poster. I applied 4 principles from LATCH, namely Location, Time, Category, and Hierarchy.

Location: Akala Island ( Alola region )
Time: Pokemon's evolution
Category: Pokemon types
Hierarchy: Pokemon's evolution and Pokedex number

Reflection

Through these exercises, I learned how to organize information. I have observed that there are many principles and ideas when organizing information. We can always organize objects into some kind of categories according to the LATCH theory. One of my findings is that not only is LATCH a useful way to design infographics, but many social media platforms implement these principles in their UI designs. Very interesting classes with relatively simple tasks for the first 2 exercises of this module this semester.
